About CostLens

CostLens is a cloud cost-saving platform, starting with AWS. Most cost tools either need write access to your account or bury the one useful number under a dashboard nobody opens. CostLens does neither: it scans read-only, ranks what it finds by dollar impact, and hands you the exact command to fix each one.

It started from a simple frustration — AWS bills accumulate small, boring waste (an idle NAT gateway here, an unattached volume there) that's individually trivial to fix but easy to never notice, because finding it means digging through a console nobody wants to open twice a month. CostLens exists to surface that waste automatically and get out of the way.

It's built and run by a solo engineer, on the belief that a cost tool should be judged on one thing: does the first scan find something worth fixing. If it doesn't, nothing else about the product matters.

What we won't do

  • Ask for write access. The IAM policy is Describe/Get/List only, with an explicit Deny on object data and secrets.
  • Inflate the numbers. Every finding carries an honest confidence level, never rounded up to look more impressive.
  • Store your credentials. Access is granted role-to-role, gated by a per-tenant secret. Delete the stack and it's gone.
